Found a web statistics php, setting up OK except the use of .htaccess on XP Apache,
Have to change the block of httpd.conf
#
# This controls which options the .htaccess files in directories can
# override. Can also be “All”, or any combination of “Options”, “FileInfo”,
# “AuthConfig”, and “Limit”
#
AllowOverride All
Change the AllowOverride None to AllowOverride All
Problem solved.
